Materials

  • 2 pounds chicken pieces legs, thighs, breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  • Soak the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least an hour in the fridge.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  • Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and let the excess drain off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture to ensure it is well covered.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 390°F/199°C. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  • Place the chicken pieces in the basket, taking care not to overcrowd. Coat the chicken lightly with cooking spray.
  • Cook for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
