- - 4 cups crumbled cornbread
- - 1 loaf French bread cubed and dried
- - 1 cup celery chopped
- - 1 large onion chopped
- - 3/4 cup butter
- - 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
- - 2 eggs beaten
- - 1 tablespoon sage or to taste
- - 1 teaspoon thyme
- - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- - 1/4 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add celery and onion, sauté until soft.
In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread and cubed French bread.
Stir in the sautéed vegetables, chicken broth, eggs, sage, thyme, pepper, and salt until well mixed.
Transfer to a greased baking dish and cover with foil.
Bake for 30 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
