Materials

  • - 4 cups crumbled cornbread
  • - 1 loaf French bread cubed and dried
  • - 1 cup celery chopped
  • - 1 large onion chopped
  • - 3/4 cup butter
  • - 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • - 2 eggs beaten
  • - 1 tablespoon sage or to taste
  • - 1 teaspoon thyme
  • - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • - 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add celery and onion, sauté until soft.
  • In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread and cubed French bread.
  • Stir in the sautéed vegetables, chicken broth, eggs, sage, thyme, pepper, and salt until well mixed.
  • Transfer to a greased baking dish and cover with foil.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
