My family's favorite dish is my quick Salisbury steak. The soft, juicy beef patties are cooked in a thick and savory homemade brown onion gravy. Make this a quick and easy supper for any occasion! Perfect with mashed potatoes!

Materials

  • 1 pound 450g ground beef
  • 2 cups 475ml beef broth
  • 1/4 cup 40g chopped onions
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1/3 cup 35g breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup 70g sliced mushrooms
  • 3 teaspoons 25g cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons 45ml water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onions, egg, salt, and black pepper.
  • Separate the mixture into 4 portions and shape into steaks.

Cooking Steps:

  • Cook the steaks in a pan for 10 minutes or until browned on both sides.
  • Add beef broth, sliced onions, and mushrooms to the pan.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then turn the heat to low, cover, and cook until the steaks are no longer pink in the center (about 10 minutes).
  • Transfer the steaks to a platter.

Gravy Steps:

  • Bring the mixture in the pan back to a boil.
  • In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water.
  • Pour the cornstarch mixture into the boiling mixture.
  • Continue to cook, stirring, until the mixture thickens.

Final Touch:
