Our simple orange chicken dish adds a healthy twist to the sweet-savory Chinese takeout staple.

Ingredients:

• 1.5 lbs (about 700g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

Salt and pepper to taste

• 1 cup orange juice

• 1/2 cup chicken broth

• 1/3 cup soy sauce

• 1/4 cup rice vinegar

• 1/4 cup brown sugar

• 2 tablespoons cornstarch

• 1 tablespoon grated orange zest

• 2 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 teaspoon grated ginger

• Vegetable oil for frying

• Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions:

1. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.

2. In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, chicken broth, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, cornstarch, orange zest, garlic, and ginger to make the sauce.

3. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat.

4. Fry the seasoned chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

5. In the same pan, add the sauce mixture and simmer until it thickens.

6. Add the cooked chicken back to the pan, coating it in the thickened sauce.

7. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

8. Serve the orange chicken over rice or noodles.
